How do you review candles?

We have a dedicated team of editors with years of practice smelling candles and impulsively buying them. We rate candles based on 6 criteria; scent, throw, burn (time + tunneling), design, value, and sustainability.

What is throw?

Think of throw as the strength of a candles scent — how well it travels throughout a space. A candle with great scent is nothing without good throw.

How do you judge scent?

We all have different preferences, so we’ll have editors review candles within their scent palette spectrum so that they aren’t harshly reviewing a candle only because of personal preference. That being said, our reviews are highly subjective!
